Even the name is cool...Danionella dracula.

Interesting thing about this fish...it is a carp, and carp evolved a lack of teeth about 50 mya.  Those aren't real teeth, but are actually bony extensions of the jaw serving the same function as teeth.  Cool.  Evolution works out a different solution.

Presumably it ate other fish, or inwards directed teeth wouldn't be much of an advantage (?)

Wait a minute- is this a fossil or a living thing? I couldn't tell by the article. If it is alive, it doesn't look a bit well. I think I felt like it looks last Sunday.

I am not certain, but I think they are talking about a living species in SE Asia.  I think the picture is of a dead fish that was brought back for examination.
