Title: Easter Island
Post by: Griffin NoName on February 11, 2014, 02:57:28 AM
Just been watching a documentary about Easter Island which was exploring the reasons for the disappearance of the people etc etc. claiming not eco destruction but Europeans (what do you know, what a surprise). Anyway they'd just got to about 1914 and there were about 111 native people left alive, when the narrator announced............ "but help was at hand"........... cut to a shot of a London bus, No 7. to be precise.

What the f..? Saved by a No.7 bus?

Made me laugh, but was it accidental bad editing?

Obviously help was at hand, since now everyone can go to the British museum on Number 7 and learn about theirs and other ancient cultures, so really the Europeans aren't All That Bad. Hoorah!

Actually you are exactly right. The help at hand turned out to be a British Lady of Private means who saw one of the Easter Island statue thingies at the BM and was enthused to go out there and do a bit of ameteur archeology. But we didn't know that when we were presented with the No.7 bus, and anyway the No.7 bus did not exist in 1914.
