Ops, I am very interested in the spirituality of Native Americans... I believe it's the closest thing we have left (?) to the old religion... but I have to admit "I know nothing but the fact of my ignorance"  :D

It's a real treaure hunt (Y'aarrggh!) trying to find out information about the Medicine Wheel basically because, as I understand it, the aboriginal Americans just passed it along by word of mouth for thousands of years and they figured that would be the way it would always be shared. But then they ran into some trouble with some powerful foreign zealots from another faith entirely who tried to "save" them by taking their kids away from their teachings and teach them a new way. Apparently the Native Americans were open-minded to the new religion but didn't realize that the zealots were not open-minded to the old ways. A lot was lost.

Luckily, some very stubborn people hung on to the old spirituality with all their might and some have written down what they remember from old teachings.

Another lucky thing is that the Medicine Wheel philosophy is specifically designed to "roll with the changes". It is a science-based philosophy, in that it is based on the observations that the sun rises, sets and rises again, the year goes through the seasons and begins anew, the plant grows, blooms, fruits, sets seed and sprouts in a new form. Life is not a stagnant thing. We have to adapt and grow and when we die, what we shared goes on giving to life. Nothing on the Wheel is more important than anything else, because it's all connected. It's a moving experience to ride on this Wheel. But like any wheel, it's not doing any good unless it's rolling.

I'm trying to find out all I can about it, but also how we as modern people can benefit from it without going all phony guru about it.

Hello!

I'm Goat. Nobody else believes me but I am basically in charge of everything by virtue of being more humble than everybody else.

It is very nice to have you here.

Ah yes, it's Goat! We'd crown him King of Humbleness, but he's a communist and disapproves of royalty.

Maybe we could make him Chairman of Humbleness?

Bluenose

Hello Stelli, greetings from the land downunder!

Seems like I am late in meeting you, but I am sure you will forgive me, for I am indeed a lovable rogue.  And extremely modest.  Did I mention good looking?  ;) ;) ::)

The only thing I can think to add is this: Don't go swimming in the moat. The Squidlings are territorial, and very inventive...

Other than that, welcome, Stelli.
