Just stopping by for a moment to say hello! I'm very busy with my latest children's theater production, but this is the final weekend, so I'll see ya next week!
:-*
Good luck with it, Opsa! Don't tire the little kiddiwinks out!
They're fine, thank you. I'm the exhausted one! But I'm back.
Poppin' in quickly to let you know that our home phone line has been shorting out, causing inconvenient stretches of linelessness in phone and puter disuse. Hope I can stay on long enough to reply to something today. But I'm around!
Make sure you don't get shorted yourself.
You can never tell with the phone company.
Uh-oh, I hope they didn't hear me!
^ You're in deep doo-doo; they monitor everything.
I love the phone company. It is perfect. Well worth the money. Dependable as all get-out.
How'd I do?
There was a moment there where I was getting towards the beginnings of belief, but there's just not enough dogma in your comment to ring* true. I give it a 5.5/10. Sorry. ;D
* See what I did there?
Do we need a no puns rule?
No puns rule,
No puns rule.
Let down your hair.
;D

Goodness, your brain works like mine does. !!
HAH!
Just revolving in to say that my terrific phone service has been out since last Froiday, freeing me from all political telephone surveys all weekend long through Monday. Gosh, it's been convenient!
I hope your terrific phone service had a nice holiday.
Jeepers, it sure did. And after another one, the marvelous phone company came and surely, surely fixed the line, and at no cost to us! Really! The trouble was actually at the pole. I know I've said it before, but this time it's really, really super duper true: The phone company is the bee's knees.
Wow. I'm pretty shocked. Phone companies are usually notorious for bad and slow service. Woohoo! ;D
What's even more surprising is that they actually deducted those days we missed from our bill. Am I dreaming?
*gently caresses Opsa before deciding to just slap*
I don't know, but did that work?
Quote from: Opsa on September 10, 2012, 08:25:32 PM
Am I dreaming?
Nope, they're scared to death of VOIP (services like vonage that work over the internet) because it's drastically cheaper and far more convenient.
Ah, I loiks it when cold cruel reality works in our favor!
Where'd I get this bruise, though?
Probably scared of mobile, too.
We have ridiculous mobile rates up here, but even at those prices it's just as cheap to have a cell phone as a land line, with all services thrown in. Ma's home phone beats my cell slightly due to the fact that she's got unlimited long distance to the US, but I figure unlimited text to the world (plus mobile) trumps that. Of course, there are still lots of dead spots for cell coverage (~95% of the province), so those living out in the sticks are still better off with land lines or satellite phones.
:offtopic:
.............and UK finally goes 4G, but only for two cell phone companies and limited cities.
HellooOoooOoo!
Hi!
These doors sure revolves fast... :o :)
It's nice to be back.
I'll to pop in on a bit more regular and even write some... ::) :) I'm usually lurking in the shadows nowadays.
See you around!
:grouphug:
Good to see you back - hope you can post more and lurk less...
Great to see you D.
We need a Lurker Alert :giggle:
Lurker alert...
Isn't that the little box at the bottom of the page that tells you who is logged in?
;D
Um Yes but I never look at it, I need a big flashing neon sign, my attention span is almost zero.
Ah! something like this?
Darlica is lurking again!
;D
 yes exactly like that
Maybe an audio cue would help too, something along the lines of a ghost moaning and shaking chains.
Hey- my darling, cunning, fantastical phone system has been on and off for the past week, wreaking havoc with my communications. They are supposed to fix it (again) today. Right now I have internet connection, but no phone. Go figger.
I am happy to see Darlica!
What beautiful company* is your provider? Perhaps you should change internet providers and use VOIP (telephone over the internet), it is significantly cheaper.
*here the usual suspects are ATT and Comcast which means that you can choose between Beelzebub and Mephistopheles. Aren't monopolies fun? ::)
Why, the fiendish fabulous Verizon, my dear chap.
They came by on Wednesday and took out what they described as a useless old wire that had been shorting out. I was not (to my knowledge) charged for this visit, as it was miraculously outside of the house.
Really sorry I missed you when you were in town, though.
Well, apparently I'm back. For over a year, maybe more than a couple of years, I have been unable to access the monastery. For some unknown reason I got a topic reply notification at work Friday, and when I clicked the link, I was stunned to actually be brought here. I hope everyone is well and feeling fine. The missus and I have had a rather nasty two years, all of our remaining parents have passed away, and a few other unpleasant things involving siblings and tenants have gone over the dam as well. But work is still fun, and most of the kitties are still with us (down to 25 now), so all in all it's still good to be breathing. I hope to be more visible going forward.
Also, there's a whole bunch of lovely beer in the fridge!
Hi and welcome back. How strange you could not access the TFM. I wonder what was wrong. If you were a bot or a spammer I assure you, you would be able to access it!!!
Life seems to have been bumpy for you, but then I find, it always is.
It isn't impossible that one of the blocked spammers used an IP used by your ISP hence blocking you if you had the IP assigned to you afterwards (by DHCP). Were you able to access the front page or not even that?
I had no luck getting even the front page to load. Might have been something in my computer - I have a new work computer now, not a laptop, and have inherited my wife's old (really, really old) tablet for my midnight ramblings at home. For a long time I would take m work laptop home with me as my only means of internet access.
How odd, and how sad. Anyway, you're back now - welcome and let's hope the gremlins will let you stay this time.
Hi Earthling. We don't know one another, as i'm relatively new in these here parts, but welcome back. I hope your troubles are able to sort themselves out from now on. Life has certainly thrown itself at you with full force. :(
Hello Earthling! I'm so glad to see you back.
I can relate to the parent passing, as we lost Mr. Ops' dad earlier this year and are just beginning to find our way back to whatever we called normal life before. It can take a lot out of a person. But sounds like you've had more than one death in the family. My heart goes out to you.

Doh! Hi ET! We now converse in three places, and know each other quite well (internets-wise). This year has been very trying for you. You have been in my thoughts a lot.
rrr hi gang ,I still can't remember my BC password so ... the wee blightarr known as nefyoo will have to do. I am selling the farm and moving west. I am not certain what I am going to do now . Bugger being trained as designer with limited sight . I've given away almost everything. I have a bit left for Dan , does he still pop in ? Maybe he would like some tools. I lost many numbers and addresses these last few years . Life has not been very fun for many reasons . Oh well... could be worse. Argh
Brudder Cuzzin! Hurrah! Glad to hear from you, it's been far too long.
How far west are you heading?
Great to see you, but sorry life has not been kind to you. I've sent you "nefyuBB" a PM about BC.

I have BC in mind , much family and friends there . I think I will get there via the territories ... whatever . I intend to impose myself upon many victims along the way. Hehe
BC is BC bound! Might be a bit dodgy heading through the territories this time of year, though, being the Great White North and all.
I'm not leaving until the infectious desease team are finished with my blood samples and spinal fluid. I haven't sold the house yet . I have a wee bit of work to do yet . But the coke addicts took almost six figures from me.
I have been corrupted by Babylon and want out.
:goodvibes:
My notebook of ideas, dreams, sketches and schemes is labelled as such:
From: BABYLON To: FREEDOM
It's often difficult to look out for your own best interests while trying to help others (especially if they aren't going to help themselves). I'm glad to see you back around here, BC. I was wondering what happened to you.
:glomp:
Coke's rotten stuff, and it makes people do terrible things. I think a lot of people would be surprised at how much of it is around, albeit usually out of sight.
I didn't go anywhere , I've been lurking the entire time as nef . I didn't post since I wanted nefyoo to remain in character , since I forgot how to login as BC.
brudder-nefyoo-cuzzin!
(that's starting to sound like a "southern" moniker!) ;)
What's the latest word on your vision (and the other symptoms)? I hope your move goes well and that we'll see more of you under any name. While my recent move was unwanted, I am really enjoying my privacy and quiet angain! I hope yours works out as well for you.
:goodvibes:
I seem to have some short term memory loss. I've done much stooopid ! I can discern the movement of my finger tips two inches from my face as a silhouette against a dark background. It's more like my fingertips are just blocking what little light that is getting through .
The problem was an enflamed optic nerve . More later , fatigued and feel stressed out .
BC, did the username/password combination still not work for BC?
Sorry your are not feeling good.
I missed you and am glad you're back, whatever the moniker.

Yup and I'm much better each day. They sent me home with pregnisone , I think it might have done some damage , I'm not certain , but something is different . They also gave me teva chlorpromazine , I only needed 1and a half of those.
There is still some if I need them. Also my cat has the same steroid but I promised I wouldn't touch them . So cat is off the stuff as well .
steroids do some amazing things, some ok, some definitely not, are you right off them now?
chlorpromazine is known as a medical cosh, I had it once and was stuck in revolving door mode, (ok, that's this thread) 0 no but seriously, I hope I never ever have it again
you WILL feel better......

I do feel better ... embarrassed about some ranting and raving in public though , some aggression ad well . Urge to work out is strong and odd .
Very pleased to see you back here, BC.
Not so glad to hear you've been having some health issues, but I hope you're on the road to recovery now.
Sending down-under good vibes to speed you along...
:goodvibes:
Thanks everybody .
And for griffin , my last dose was last Tues. The 60 mg doses to 40 mg were the worst .
Didn't help the vision much . The stuff through the IV gave me something from 8 ft away .
Hang on, Buddy, we're on your side.
Happy hundredth hug!
I had to go through steroid withdrawal. It isn't pretty. But it can be done-- the last prednizone I had was just before my brother got his master's degree, which was back in the late 90's or so. So you can stay off them, it appears.
As Red Green says:
Hang in there, were all in this together.
:)
Glad things improving. Doing stuff in public is not uncommon - I think we worry about it more than "the public" who soon forget.

Who would want to eat that stuff !??
It is sooooo foul in foulness , it is extremely bitter . I barfed up continuously until it was 6 pills or 30 mg. At this lower dosage I did not vomit as much per day .
I was good on steroids. Just made me a bit high and over-active before the full impact of chemotherapy hit me like a sledge-hammer. Mind, I was on tons and tons of anti-emetics.
It caused me to hiccup almost nonstop for a week ... in amongst the vomiting . Then hiccups follow ed by burping , then all of the above while unable to breathe until 6 or seven days later the pharmacy called and said the Teva- something had arrived and at last , respite .
Oh dear, I can't imagine the horrors you and Griffin have gone through. I just hope you're feeling better now.

Much better thank you , the nasty stuff would not let me sleep .
I agree-- those pills were beyond bitter-- a whole new word for "bitter" ought to be created, just to describe these things.
I discovered early on, that wrapping them in something was the only way to get them down-- peanut butter, a piece of bread-- or... the best? A miniature marshmallow, carefully torn open, insert nasty pill, smash closed and swallow whole without chewing.
I also made certain I never took them (except in emergency) on an empty stomach.
But their effects were ... wonderful. I have a number of allergies to various things, and am irritated by any number of annoying but not life-threatening quirks.
During my time on prednazone, None of these bothered me in the least. Not a one.
But I am also quite aware that prednazone will destroy your liver, given sufficient dosages-- and it's the sort of thing that, like a bad neighbor, hangs around in your blood for days after the last one was swallowed. So, if you're on a daily regimen, you build up quite a store in your body, which leeches out slowly after you stop taking it.
... meh. I'll take 'minor but annoying body-quirks' for $50, Alex. :o ::)

The thing they worry most about is that it wrecks your immune system.
Yah? Shit .. lost a molar.. nothing wrong with it no cavitiy or filling ( I think) . I through up no matter what I did . Hiccup burping for six or so days . Hiccups just a increased in frequency until the tevo yadda yadda.
