What is the point of http://www.20q.net/ ?

I just answer the questions randomly. It's not much fun.

sorry to disappoint, this is not a game, it is about a game

Teaching their artificial intelligence that the name Spencer is a dog's name. Took running their name game 14 times to make it so...

I'm in their artificial intelligences, screwin' with their  randomness... :mua:

Silly thing.

I picked Star Trek.  I imagined Data.

It took 23 questions to figure that out.

Then again, it is only software.

Perhaps, it will evolve into SkyNet someday.... ::)
Sometimes, the real journey can only be taken by making a mistake.

my webpage-- alas, Cox deleted it--dead link... oh well ::)

It got the place Death Zone on Gallifrey in 20 questions. That was quite impressive given all the places in Doctor Who.

Training neural nets is fun. I heard a story (probably urban myth) about when the U.K. military tried to teach a net to spot tanks hiding in countryside by showing it photos with and without them. They thought they'd got it working but then a new batch of photos failed to be recognised.

Turned out all the photos with tanks were taken on a sunny day and all the ones without on cloudy days; the neural net was detecting whether the sun was out or not, not tanks.

One day must look that up at an urban myth site, but don't want to be disillusioned. I think they use something similar now on the Underground to work out passenger density (and neatly solving the sun problem).

I chose Think in American. Evevrybody do their own country/language, and see how much we can input before it catches the concept.

After three games it guessed "Chat room" which I counted as close enough.

Now...to get "Toadfish Monastery" to pop up in the "look deeper" list...  :toadfishwink:

I told it close on chat room, web page and such. Teach it 'close' on those and eventually it'll go for Toadfish Monastery when those elicit a 'close'.

(Since my intelligence seems to be artificial nowadays, I may have figured it out...)

You were thinking of a web site.
Can it be stolen? You said Probably, 20Q was taught by other players that the answer is No.

Booby is seriously un-hatched.

Not interesting enough to be a blue-footed booby, he''s just some cracked egg and an un-hatched one at that. ::)
