Beer is nice from time to time but I still prefer wine.

Choose my price-point, here.  I like wine (and scotch for that matter), but good cheap wine is not available here.  Domestic microbrews and good imports are easy to get, and are much more affordable in terms of single-unit consumption (they also hold their own with most drinkable wine in terms of alcoholic content, considering I like the high-test stuff).

I'm more than a bit of a beer buff, and perhaps because I'm relatively uninitiated in wine I find that there is more variety in flavour / colour / body / mouthfeel across the beer spectrum than with wine. Shame, really - I live in one of the major Canadian wine regions, but then again there's a brewery in dang near any town.

I like spirits on occasion, but feel they often lack the full drinking experience that you get with a beer. The best solution I've found is to pair a bit of rum (neat or on the rocks) alongside a nice slow-sipping pint like Guinness. The latter's a bit watery and flavourless, but it's low-alcohol and has great mouthfeel.  The rum on the side gives a nice contrast - clean, flavourful and good alcohol notes.

Last surprisingly, this doesn't promote faster drinking; I think one takes smaller sips of the beer because the rum puts you in a sipping mood Post

There was some renewed talk about the squidlings in some threads these days, including one about eating some after they overdid sunbathing and fried themselves. By chance I bought some battered calamari* this evening and somehow my mind wandered to the classic Max & Moritz story, in particular the sixth trick.
I got the idea that this classic could be rewritten (fully or in parts) to feature the exploits of naughty squidlings.
I fear that may surpass my poetic abilities (and definitely my drawing talent) but I could at least give it a try.
Does somebody here have some good ideas? Or even thinks that (s)he could take over the graphic part?
In case of a positive response I might open a thread for this.
