if any of you lucky dogs call Arizona your home port then you might not be aware that much of the USA is required to change their clocks twice a year for this daylight savings thing- overall a good idea- use less energy and all-- but come on- it is a royal pain in the patooty!
and this year it is coming early! In fact at 2am Sunday March the 11th----that's like now folks. what's you opinion on the subject and it is acceptable to post here tomorrow -- especially if you have hilarious glitches to share.

Why is it early this year? I think normally the USA and UK switch at the same time, but we're two weeks away from it.

Daylight savings is great for messing up international teleconferences. Americans assume Britain is always on GMT (it isn't in the summer), and likewise Brits forget to add and hour in summer if Americans say their timezone is EST (or whatever).

Is it just Arizona early this year? If it's all or most of USA there should have been an International Conference on it. It's always been the second to last Sunday in March. Always. Well since Always began.

Was "bright" intended to be a pun?

They'll have to save a hell of a lot more daylight !

Sibling Chatty

It's just another way of making me cranky and irritable.

To change the clock in the stupid van takes a contortionist. I've always just left it. The people that were borrowing the van last week changed it. I am going to make them change it back, as I do not have three hands, am not a contortionist and HATE the damn van...

GWB is still trying to figure exactly where it is that they store all that saved daylight. (It sure as hell ain't in his head, that's still a total vacuum.)

AZ does not change- lucky duckies!

In the USA it's 3 weeks early now and then we will "Fall back" early this year also- not sure of the official new date yet.

I don't know that I really see a diff in my electrical usage at all- never really compared- who knows?

very tired this am- some of you probably don't sleep well like myself anyway- and now somewhere over the rainbow an hour has gone.

It was a silly decision, IMO. I can't see how you'd lower your useage. The sun is still down around here when I get up (approx. 6am) and it really makes no difference.

Why early/early???  Shouldn't the Fall Back happen late to save energy??  I'm happy for the extra evening daylight though.... good for walks along the river.  Generally hate the spring change otherwise.  Would rather have permanent DST.
WWDDD?

Why?? Because Bushie, who birthed this moronic idea, is a total moron.

I hate morons...

WE ARE CATCHING UP.

Clocks go forward 2 a.m.

Thank goodness I watched the news as I'd completely forgotten.

I think this decision was specifically so they'd get the funky alternating-colour diagonal stripes on the time zone maps.

Exactly!!! See AZ is planning on being the next great galactic empire( hence the neat way of designation on time zone maps- just a wee heads up)... but a nice one (free beer, SPF 5000+ and pickles to all)

Hmm, is it free Kokanee?  Creston's not on DST either:

QuoteSome areas of Canada not using Daylight Saving Time include, Fort St. John, Charlie Lake, Taylor and Dawson Creek in British Columbia, Creston in the East Kootenays, and most of  Saskatchewan (except Denare Beach and Creighton).

Don't even ask about Newfie Time....   ::)
