Have any of you seen the new Windows 'Mojave' commercial?
I could not find it on youtube but found this for your head scratching, wtf?, die vistas already viewing pleasure

the idea seems to be
get people to try vista using deceit and they will love it just soooooooooo much
yeah, personally I just love it when a big richie corporation lies to me

Well, that was ....interesting.

I've personally used Vista on a coupla machines.

My take?   It was not different that XP in the look and feel.   Performance was the same as well (on THOSE few machines).

But.  People who review software for a living have a slightly different opinion.  And since I do not do that, I will bow to their experiences.

Which overall are more or less:  if you already have XP, don't bother with Vista.  If you have an older PC, definitely don't bother-- Vista requires the latest and greatest hardware to work properly.

The final nail is all those confusing different versions....

I like Vista and use it at home and work, but agree there's no big thing in it to make you have to upgrade. I just like the Aero interface over the Luna one of XP (but then WPF interface programming is one of my interests, and some of the WPF controls look rubbish in Luna).

The shoe advert has got a lot of bad press over here. Apparently the bloke Bill Gates is talking to is a well known comedian in the States (?) and it makes more sense, but the ad just strikes people as weird here. They're ahead of Apple though. The Advertising Standards Agency people forced Apple to withdraw an iPhone ad. They were claiming "you never know which part of the internet you need so the iPhone does all of it" (paraphrasing) and people complained Flash and Java don't work on it which cripples access to major league web sites.
