You got all your session timeouts on IE7 and none in FireFox Bob?

Actually, since I have never used IE7 to visit Toadfish (except one time, when my 'net hook was messed up, and I was eliminating causes one by one), ALL the timeouts were in Firefox.

However, I have traced MY particular problem directly to my black-box firewall/router.  It, being 6 years old, has finally failed.  (It's out of the loop, currently, and my net-hook is blazing. ;D )

So, that old adage, "hook directly between your pc and your modem, just as a test" is still true. ::)

I shut my modem down, now, [when not surfing] until I can get my black-box replaced. *sigh* An expense I was not expecting.  :P

my webpage-- alas, Cox deleted it--dead link... oh well ::)

So a firewall problem was causing your timeouts?  Can you tell me what kind of firewall it was and what the setting where?  I am particulary interested in if you were blocking cookies.

The firewall was an external piece of hardware--a "black box".  It was configured via a HTML console you accessed via it's numerical address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx  It's now out of the loop, as it's NAT translation software has apparently become corrupt, and it causes drastic reduction of throughput. Orders of magnitude, even.

I do use Windoze XP built-in firewall, SP2.

As for cookies, I have allowed them in Firefox, for toadfishmonastery.com, until they expire.

Today I have to log out/relog in for about every post, sometimes several times.
I use FireFox as browser and ZoneAlarm as firewall.

Toadfishmonastery was repeatedly not available at all yesterday (i.e.  connection was found but no answer arrived ["waiting for toadfishmonastery.com to answer"]

Knurrhähne sind eßbar aber empfehlen würde ich das nicht unbedingt.
The aspitriglos is edible though I do not actually recommend it.

What happens if you temporarily shut down ZoneAlarm?

The Meromorph

I had intermittent connectivity problems when I was using ZoneAlarm a couple of years or more ago, I eventually stopped using it, when my youngest installed a hardware one, and networked my computer in with his several...

If you have ZA try turning off cookie control for toadfishmonastery.com.  Make sure you aren't running more than one firewall such as ZA and windows firewall.

That's the tips I found on a search.

Run the forum unwrapped and see if that makes a difference.

Try closing the browser window when you leave the monastery.

Opsa

Thanks for the unwrapped link. I will try it.

I'm on Camino and have about one bumpoff per session.

Aggie

Since I switched to unwrapped (Firefox), I rarely have issues.  The main site shoutbox doesn't recognize me, but forum problems are nil.
WWDDD?

ivor

Must be a problem with the template.  :'(

Unwrapped works fine (and the lack of the top picture makes it a wee bit faster)

Yes.  ;D

Looks like the Joomla sessions are getting killed off by procwatcher.  I am on the trail of figuring this out.

I know that picture is big but it should be cached.  Should I make it smaller?

MB

Opsa

I kind of like it that size, but you can try it smaller if you think it might help.

Or maybe you could make a button in the side bar that says something like:
"For faster loading, try our unwrapped version" with a link to the unwrapped page.

I wonder if NoName has tried the unwrapped option.

Kiyoodle the Gambrinous

I had no "session verification problem" till now, but something other happened:

When logging in from the "Arcade" (I mostly play logged out), it gives me just a blank page.

Then I go to the Monastary Homepage (manually) and arrive there logged in. It happened several times already.

Just thought you might like to know that.
