I miss a FAQ and rule section and find the Help section a bit lacking.

What influences the status (Newbie, Toadfish, Full member etc.)?
The mere number of posts doesn't seem to be it.

What customs are there relating to karma?

What about doubleposting?

Knurrhähne sind eßbar aber empfehlen würde ich das nicht unbedingt.
The aspitriglos is edible though I do not actually recommend it.

I think most of these are filed under "Make 'em up as you go along".

The Status is mostly post count based, with the exception of Toadfish, which is a group designation and tops up the stars (same with admins and such).  Toadfish = Siblings from the old home Monastery, and there's apparently still some bugs in the system.  MentalBlock's been busy lately, so not everyone's been patched properly yet (and a few still haven't sorted the login process).

I think Oz Nick started a thread on karma somewhere, but generally one gives it when they like a post or are just generally feeling kindly.

Doubleposting would be the same as anywhere... discouraged where an edit would suffice, allowed where necessary.  One nice feature here...  edited posts make a thread appear as Unread, so you don't need to repost to bump a thread.

Of course, this is all top of the head and subject to change as we get settled in.   :toadfish:

Yep. Our official launch date is November 1st, so everyone here now can be in on helping with the reconstruction.

How would you fix the Help section, Swato?

Do we need a suggestion box?

We're working on levels of dedication, here. The Open Water section we're in now is public for anyone who registers. All we ask is that people who register keep in mind the Honorable Order of Toadfish monastic virtues of mutual respect.

People who consistantly manage to be mutually respectful may ask or be asked to take the monastic vows and enter the novicehood area where they may discuss things with the Siblings and decide whether they'd like to join us. If things go well there, they can join the more formal monastery group and help keep the peace throughout the more public threads as well as enjoy the relative serenity of a more cloistered area for discussions.
