Hmmm... there were similar mutations popping up in frogs a while back (can't recall where) that turned out to be due to the presence of a parasite in the tadpole's developing limb-buds.

Any idea what this one was caused by?

I hope they do some proper research on this event. It would be beneficial to humans if we could have legs that can be ripped off without us feeling a thing or being aware of it.
