As a concerned human I draw your attention to [this].

What action would you have a robot perform for you?

Laundry?  Specifically, hanging and folding.....

What?

Okay, seriously, I think a robotic Judge would be pretty cool-- a robot would be completely dispassionate in a trial, completely objective.   But, of course, robots/computers do not understand the nuances of human conversation.....

....yet.

Add in ironing and putting away.  Laundry is a pain in the butt.  We need smart clothes tags that contain a proximity card or similar with the care instructions and clothes type on them, so that a machine could correctly separate clothes by colour/care, wash 'em & dry or hang them as needed, press & fold them (I may consider putting them away myself if it would do all that, although it tends to become the rate-determining step now anyways). Heck, if you could make the chips small enough, one could even have it sort socks, and automatically keep a database of unmatched socks to pair up singles.

I wouldn't mind a robot driver, either.

ALL cleaning.

Floors, scrubbing of bathrooms especially.

Dusting, window cleaning.

(All the stuff I can't do anymore.)

Actually, robotic help/care for people unable to care for themselves will likely be the first application of humiform robots, I think.

It's a task many would rather delegate.

Robot drivers/autos would be good, esp in the USA where we are addicted to riding alone vs carpool, public transit--- it would allow us to be 'alone' but would make things safer and quicker. I envision a sort of thing like in the Tom Cruise movie "Minority Report" now that would be cool. I'm not a loner-and have looked for carpool mates but so far no luck.

How about a robot to clean up after pets. Any type of cleaning.

and the sock idea is fantastic--- sort of
imagine
little robot sock puppets, they've gone 'mad', they are stalking you with little plastic knives and forks
ok sorry

Vacuuming. I hate vacuum cleaning I know there are vacuum cleaning robots but they aren't agile enough to clean under beds and cupboards and stuff.

My roomba cleans under beds provided there are no obstacles to get there. It isn't perfect (you have to look for obstacles and specially cables) but once is working is great. Possibly the best household tool available now.

I like the idea of iRobot's gutter-cleaning robot (Looj) as well....  it had me speculating on how much one could charge for cleaning people's gutters with a relatively cheap little robot.

iRobot also develops and manufactures robots for the US military - apparently they've showcased prototypes with guns attached already.

Nanobot surgical bots that can be guided to a tumor to cut away and eliminate the bad stuff without damaging the good stuff, even if it has to be guided by a human externally.

I'd like that NOW please.
