The effect of compulsory striped awnings enhanced the general impression that everyone was happy; however, rumors spread claiming that on the occasion of the feast of St. Ecclescake the Grumptous of Little Weekirk in Ayrshire, no less than thirty refuse collectors came down the Hill mounted on constipated ponies with platted and plaited tails that smelled, shouting: "Ahoy there!". Talking tails tell no lies except big ones about bejeweled Indian maharajahs and crustaceans in swimsuits. The pergola became the latest problem on the list of duties Emilio had pinned to the back of the chapel -- like Wittenberg --
