Bolton Unlikely to remain ambassador

All I can say is, couldn't happen to a nicer guy /sarcasm

Among the more interesting paragraphs from the link, are these:
Quote from: CNNAlso, Sen. George Voinovich, an Ohio Republican, took to the floor and read a list of complaints by Bolton's subordinates who said he had a reputation of bullying his colleagues, taking facts out of context and exaggerating intelligence.

Carl Ford, the former chief of the State Department's Bureau of Intelligence and Research, called Bolton "a quintessential kiss-up, kick-down sort of guy" and a "serial abuser" of subordinates.

Folks have been tellin' them all that for years.

NOW, maybe some of the Repubs will have the huevos to go against the Bushistas and refuse to rubber-stamp the incompetent and the cronies.

Well, here I was getting all [sarcasm]excited[/sarcasm] because a radio report I heard was saying that the Dems will probably let him through to show their 'bipartisan' *cough* spirit.

Please, let it not be so.
Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes.
That way, when you DO criticize him, you are a mile away, and have his shoes.

Nah, Bolton's exactly who they SHOULDN'T let through in any show of bipartisanship.

Bolton's a Neocon's Neocon, and a mean old coot as well. One former female subordinate has a dartboard with his profile on it...and at her retirement party, they played "pin the tail on the jackass" with a donkey with his face on it. This was from 10 years ago, mind you, and the disgust is still strong--loathing and revulsion. Her statement is that he's just plain mean for the sake of being mean, and disagreeable as well. If it's not HIS idea, it's stupid. Until he rewrites it and presents it as his idea, that is...

That everyone he worked with at that time felt he was intellectually dishonest also speaks poorly of him.

The Congress has had occasion to find out about all this and MUCH more. The Repubs (sane ones) won't let this go through.

There was a bit on either BBC or NPR a couple of weeks ago, with an author of a new book.  The author had noting nice to say about Bolton, and everything ill - the author was not an American, btw.

He told a story of Bolton's first days in office at the UN.  Prior to Bolton, there had been a commettee setup to try to deal with N Korea.  They were making painful progress - the parties involved are "prickly", to say the least.  In comes Bolton.  He immediately says, "All that work for the past 6 months - good job.  But, we are not going to use any of it." and he tossed all that hard work out the window.  Later, N Korea went ahead with the nuclear testing ...
