My crazy cousin borough up to my attention this old article:
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/05/09/politics/main1600694.shtml
The lovely Rupert Murdoch of Fox news making a fund raiser for Hillary?!?!

What's wrong with this picture?

I wanna hear your conspiracy theories.

nothing when you thing he has had the Murdoch press (sun, times etc) firmly behind 'socialist' Labour and Blair in Britain since 1997. Murdoch likes nobody better that a centerist media friendly face who purports to be from the left but who simply takes the middle ground and isolates any radical leftist thinking from the mainstream. Blair and Hillary are peas in a pod and Murdoch will love em so long as he can be the pod that contains them. Look how the Murdoch papers are swinging away from Labour now Brown is in power in GB!

But the thing is that Faux News is always ranting about how Hillary will destroy the country/is the daughter of satan/eats babies for breakfast, and now they guy is making a new business channel because the other one in the air is too liberal.

I wonder if it is just insurance or if there is something else to it.

I think Zono is right about insurance.

Murdoch's usually careful to associate himself with the party in the ascendant. After all, they will write the Communications nand Monopolies Acts.
Think of it as a sign the Democrats are on the way up.

Goat, I'm not sure all the Murdoch papers are swinging away from Brown, and wasn't Murdoch one of Brown's first weekend guests?  The Sun is moving away, but after Brown/Blair's EU Constitution Manifesto whopper the readership wouldn't have accepted anything else.

I'd say there are only ever two forces at work. Selling papers, so telling the readership the views they want to hear, and courting those who make all the laws.  Soon his friend Blair might be our beloved EU President (spit) and Murdoch need never worry about domestic politicians again.
