How weird is it that it usually takes the unelected to preserve our liberties?

Perhaps because they won't lose their status (and priveleges, and most of all, their nice red dressing gowns) if it all goes pear shaped.

Or of course in this particular case, they may all be terrorists. After all, voluminous red dressings gowns would hide the suicide bombers "belt" nicely. And they would be unlikely to be shot getting on a tube.

At least we can rest easy now. Although as the recession/depression worsens there may be quite a few people who would have been thankful for the additional weeks board and lodgings.

I think it was Nay! for the Lords rather than Yay!
