Greed makes many bosses pay as little as possible. Employees are not often given a raise unless it is company policy (as in a cost of living percentage raise) or we demand one and it is granted. Men have learned to be more aggressive with their bosses about raises. Women may feel that they're lucky to be tolerated at a workplace at all, and may not be as aggressive. Women who are not usually assumed to be the breadwinner don't seem to have as urgent a case. We're still thought of as being sort of a supplemental wage earner.

Be that as it may, fair is fair, and if she does the work, she should get the pay whether or not she has a working husband, is single, is a mother or not, or is aggressive in the game of business.
