I just googled "Monastery Cakes" and all it came up with was FRUITCAKES!!!

Mom made a great fruitcake this year - she uses all natural dried fruits, not those dyed glace cherries and such, and it's much better (and lighter) that the much-hated classic version.  It's always good, but this year it was absolutely delicious. Apparently she slipped with the rum and dumped quite a bit more than usual in it....  coincidence?

What about Lemmon, raspberry or strawberry tartlette? Are they considered fruitcakes or just fruity cakes?

Hmmm I wonder if  a Raspberry/Boysenberry tartlette with a splash of rum would be any good...

I've only been here a couple of days, but I love the place.  I'm so glad to have found it, and sad to have missed those years.
As for being a fruitcake: yup, though a rather old one now.  But there are some very bright and very cultured fruitcakes here to set the standard.
