Testing new Firefox extension

I am testing a new firefox extension, called BBCodeXtra. With a right-click, I can bold, Italic and other things.

Hmmm.  It seems to work well.

However, you can't seem to get it from the usual place, firefox extensions, as that version is broken, currently.

I got this at author's site, which in turn lead to the main author's site here.

OOOh! it's cool, there is a "url wizard" that actually lives up to the name wizard.

You right-click, then select extra, then url wizard.  Up pops a box, asking for the name of the link, like "here".  Then a box pops up letting you paste your URL link and it formats it all BBCode-like.  that alone makes it worth the bother.

Edit:  Okay, all the links work as expected, and the formatting looks okay too.

If you use Firefox, go get this one (if you don't already have it)  You'll like it, I promise.

Oooo... shiiiiny! it does html too!

Believe it or not this is extremely useful to update templates in the admin of the website I just built.

Thank you!

LOL!

Actually, a "firefox extension" is a small program that lets you customize your Firefox web browser.

<sarcasm>As ANYONE knows, only COMMUNISTS still use Internet Explorer ... </sarcasm>  ::)

One of the many reasons I switched over from IE (aside from a virtual poking one in Micro$oft's eye) is that you can customize your browser with all sorts of cool modifications.

Being a programmer background, I found this very compelling.

My current list of extensions: (in alphabetic order)

BBCodeXtra*
Bookmarks LinkChecker
Copy Plain Text*
Duplicate Tab
Favicon Picker
Flashblock*
Flat Bookmark Editing
HashColouredTabs
IE View Lite*
Image Zoom*
Mozilla SpellCheck Libraries*
NoScript**
Nuke Anything Enhanced*
PDF Download
Sort Extensions And Themes
SpellBound*

* essential!

** best SECURITY tool you can use, when surfing the internet.

Right-click on the downloaded item (you may need to open windows explorer and look for it, if it's not on your desktop)

Choose "open" from the list. Windoze will open a dialog, asking you more-or-less, "open with what".   You should see a list of programs, and hopefully, windoze has Firefox listed.  If not, you'll need to click the "browse" button, and search your hard disk for the firefox program.  Me, I deplore manual searches, so... I locate a firefox ICON/LINK, either in my quick-link bar, on the desktop or in my start-menu system.  Right-click on that, and choose properties. Highlight the text in the "TARGET" section, and press control-c (copy).  Click "cancel" on the opened link dialog.  Go back to the still open "open with what" dialog, and in the "file name" box, press control-v (paste).  Thus, neatly pasting the reference to Firefox. Click "open" button.

Now, this will start Firefox, and it will open the downloaded extension file.  In a minute or three, it will let you click "install".  Once that's done, close and re-open Firefox and it should be there.  You can confirm under Tools-->Extensions menu.

Thanks Bob...

Actually, I've done the same thing before, but as nothing happened at the same moment I've opened it in Firefox, but took a minute or two, I thought nothing was going to happen...

Now I waited and I have the extention... :)

And it works so nicely...

See? :D:D:D

I like using the Quick Reply box, and I STILL get my basic formatting options.

It's an option in your personal profile.  Look in the various settings in your profile, and you will see a check-box, if I remember correctly.

Click "Your Details" on the menu at the left, to go to your profile

Under that, there is a profile menu (also at the left, but not at the extreme-left).

In that menu, choose Forum layout.  In that, near the bottom, there is a drop-down box.  Choose "quick reply, on by default".  Click "save profile" button.
