Title: Monastery Hosting Renewal
Post by: ivor on July 23, 2011, 10:16:15 PM
Hi,

It's time to renew the hosting plan for the monastery.  It's $353 and I just don't have it.  Donations are accepted.

Edit:

If you'd like to donate please PayPal darren_dickerson@innostorm.com.  I have a $50 pledge already.  If you'd like to post here and receive credit for your donation please do so.  If you wish to remain anonymous then I'll just post a "thank you" here with the amount so we can keep track of where we are.

Thanks,
MB

I have never used PayPal yet. What are the alternatives and until when is the dough needed?

Mongo not know...  You don't have to have a PayPal account to use PayPal.  One can pay through PayPal with a debit/credit card.  It's very secure and safe...

If I don't pay it in 30 days the account gets dropped and everything goes away...

Thank you so much, MB.

May we contact you privately, perhaps through the private message system here, and then you can give any trusted individual an address to which they might send a check?

Hey, leave some gap for me to fill! ;)

By my calculation we have a ways to go still. What we need is one of those thermometers, or perhaps a church steeple ;)

..............or a secret benefactor, hey don't Monasteries have benefactors? In fact, I would like the Library to be known as the Griffin Library or my money back  :D

Do we need to send out a begging email* to our infrequent siblings?

*if so, not the whole list, eg. not Duke or Dee Dee, and I think there are others not to send to.

Also, please post pictures of the plaque at the Griffin Library when we are clear for the next hosting period...     ;)

Foriegn currency is converted and a bit is lost when it's converted to play-money.

I just got a killer job in Dallas but keep the donations rolling if you can give 'cause I won't get a paycheck for a bit.  The danger has past though.  I'll be able to cover push come to shove.

Thank you all very much!

Get me that account (+ bank ID) number and you'll get some €€€ from me too provided that the financial world has not gone to hell by then (which the GOP is seemingly determined to facilitate next week).

Well, I know I'm not the most active poster, although generally I manage to lurk here a bit most days in between other tasks, but I do feel a sense of part/joint ownership, so putting in my bit to defray the costs of running the site seems the least I could do.  I add my thanks to all the other siblings who have chucked in, I only wish I was in a position to help out more, but things are going in the right direction even if that means I get to hang out here less, so in the future who knows what might be possible!

Got your check Ops!  Thank you very much!

No worries Blue!  While I greatly appreciate donations it doesn't change my opinion of anyone whether they donate or not because I know not everybody can donate.

$157.52 to go I believe.

Just in order to clarify and not to get undeserved laurels: I did not give the whole $157 still needed.
I guess it will need two or three donors more to get to the full sum.

Okay, you may call me a 'luddite' if you like.

I'd be happy to donate via PayPal, and have done that on various sites I frequent-- but they always had a little linky pre-configured I could click, log-in to my PP account, enter an amount and click "donate".

An idiot could do it (good thing, too).

But I looked again (post 1), and I missed it?   I think?

Is there a "manual" method to send $$?  I.e. if I go to PayPal's site, what's the next step (apart from log-in, which I can <just> manage on my own...)...

Thanks in advance.

Title: Re: Monastery Hosting Renewal
Post by: ivor on August 04, 2011, 02:30:40 AM
I had that donation control on the site but it's wonky.  I need to look at it again but I just haven't had time.  One can go to the PayPal site and send money to darren_dickerson@innostorm.com.  I think you might have to purchase "services" to do it manual...
Title: Re: Monastery Hosting Renewal
Post by: pieces o nine on August 04, 2011, 03:59:05 AM
I also had to think a bit on how to do this without a listed object from Ebay, but I followed the steps MB just posted  (Go to Paypal. go to Send Money tab at the top, enter MB's email addy, enter the amount you wish to send)  and it went through OK.

However,  I don't remember wheter I clicked the  "Purchase/Services"  or  "Personal/Other"  radio buttons to conclude the transaction...    ;D
