We have the same TV programme here. No idea if it was invented by BBC or China. BBC run it as opposition to commercial network Britains Got Talent et al.
The basics are that the judges select candidates only by voice without seeing what they look like.
Cool. That's so much better than glam-shots of who's prettiest (aka American Idol).
Kinda like when radio was king (music-wise) such that it was the sound that sold the records, not what they looked like on YouTube...
