And, of course ... if a garden hose contra bass clarinet was not weird enough? How about a carrot clarinet?

Very cool, who's the guy?
There was a Vegetable Orchestra on TV the other day.
There is that old waterhose alphorn too (different artist). Much more convenient when practicing while driving a car.
These would be great videos to show to music students of all ages!

Linsey Pollak plays "Mr Curly" (a contra bass clarinet made from garden hose) from his show "Passing Wind" as well as the feather duster clarinet.
Edit:
He's a website too: http://www.linseypollak.com/ (http://www.linseypollak.com/)
Anybody heard the PDQ Bach concerto for horn and Hardart?
I can't find a free download, I'm afraid.
I first saw PDQ Bach on The Mike Douglas Show when I was just a kid; I was utterly enchanted to see grown ups doing such silly and wonderful things, and having a great time in the process.
IIRC he was whirling an accordianated vacuum cleaner hose above his head like a lariat to create some really interesting sounds...
