Title: Creative Online games
Post by: Opsa on October 23, 2007, 06:13:59 PM
Hey!

I just found this fun online drawing game. It's based on the Dadaist excercise called Exquisite Corpse: http://www.freakmachine.co.uk/info.asp

Here's a writing version, too:

I love these sorts of things.

Hey, that's neat!

It was discovered yesterday that the Freak Machine is experiencing a glitch which prevents the loading of the second drawing page. I have alerted the site master.

I write in Demon frequently under the name woab (weird old auntie B.)

I love that! But I made two snowflakes and both got rejected with possible naughtty words!  :-[ Do you have to provide an email address to avoid that?

I give a fake e-mail address...I'm not e-mailing them out, so they don't need my e-addy. I usually use noway@jose.com, and have never had a problem.

I got two snowflakes accepted without giving them any address or a very valid location. ???

Maybe their bot reacts to something in your message or your name? Or maybe you have manage to cut out something that triggered the reaction?

I've been putting in my name as Chatty and my location as Toadfish Monastery.

The ones that amaze me are the ones where they have faces, recognizable human faces, in the pattern. I'm too dyslexic for that, I think.

Interesting. I found it a little difficult to manipulate the platforms. Especially the tilts.

Chatty- I find that dyslexia helps with drawing faces in those. I made a cute one of my daughter's face (Look up "Boopie's Mom" in search.)

I finally figured out why it was calling me "naughty"- there's a naughty word contained in "Opsanus" that I never noticed before!  ::) :-[ :D How embarrassing! But i've been posting under Opsa at TM and it works great.

By the way, "Boopie" just loves that site!

Cute Boopie face!!

I just do not have that type of talent. I can do "additive" artistic stuff, like floral design, but subtractive stuff--like that, or sculpture, isn't possible. I can't visualize what to do.

wins for me

the chap says "Display this animation full-screen when they ask you to open your laptop during a security check on the subway.

**Under no circumstances should ANYBODY use the previous animation when they ask you to open your laptop during a security check on the subway, or in any other manner during which the display of the animation could be interpreted as a hostile act. Please defer all legal action to Penn & Teller, who gave me the idea in their 1997 book, "How to Play in Traffic.""

It's funny, though. I was watching the snowflakes and someone got away with incorporating the F word in their design.

Once I was in the local library (my puter had gone down) writing an online story and wrote about "eggs hitting the pan" in a diner, and the computer wouldn't display it! It took me a while to understand that "eggs hitting" was the problem!  ::)

When I go to http://www.popularfront.com/snowdays/ and then do a search (bottom left) using "toadfish monastery" as the location, I can see mine, Chatty's and Darlica's and whomever else posts with that location.

Pretty cool!

I think it was PZ Myers on Pharyngula that brought this one to my attention.

It reminds me a bit of Lemmings.  But just a bit.

Some of those Opsa flakes are amazing--- that spatial way of looking at the paper while cutting is nice.

Thank you for the compliments, Chatty and 'Babe! Thank you for the site, Chatty. It's so relaxing.

What's really fun is to just scribble the cursor all over the place and see what you come up with in just one cut.

There are also a bunch of tips on tricks for using the site at http://www.misterx.ca/. I can't understand half of them, but am getting the hang of the positive/negative configuration down.

I'm gonna go see if 'Babe made any monastery flakes. hee hee...

Edit: Ahhh! She's in there!

I found a Darlica flake!

I can get sorta hypnotized looking at the flakes...it's so peaceful.

We tried an experiment one day last winter. When my friend Tris had a blood pressure that was WAY too high and had already taken her meds...I called up the flakes site and had her look at it for 15 minutes. Her former 170/100 BP went to 120/85 within that 15 minutes, and continued on down to 105/70 within another 10, even though she wasn't still looking at the site.

I keep it open in another window when I read some political sites now. I NEED it.

Update- a year later and I'm back makin' snowflakes!

I did a search in the lower left corner, using "Toadfish Monastery" as the location, and over a hundred flakes showed up. Lots of them are anthro, but I ran across a Chatty that said "Love to my siblings" and it nearly made me cry!
