Title: The Veggie and fruit in season finder
Post by: stellinacadente on October 14, 2008, 07:52:57 PM
Well... I thought to start from the foods that are available per season and in my mind the best place to start was the local farmer's market...

they were't really helpfull when they realized I wasn't goiing to buy anything... but I still got to look around...

ultemately i have found this great website that tells you exactly what fruits and veggies are in season in your local area!

Enjoy!

ps: one of the most fantastic features of this site is that it offers links to the local internet resource and what i have found for my area (TN) is exactly the description of the book I was looking for a while back if you remember!

:D  I had to use Montana as a nearest neighbour. The yearly crop forecast fits well, minus the cherries, raspberries, apples and cukes, none of which grow well here.  So I can look forward to sweet corn, onions and pumpkins in Alberta. :P

(the corn and pumpkins are good here, not sure about the onions)

I recently jjoined a forum about Sustainable, Organic Local and Ethical food (SOLE Food), it is run by a friend of Mrs Blue.

Might be some stuff of interest, if most of it is currently not local to most siblings!  ;)
