well at least according to Yisrayl Hawkins, pastor and overseer of The House of Yahweh

not sure if it's on the web-- probably is-- but found a flier on my car, 4 pages about global warming and yep you guessed it among it's many causes (and of course it is prophecised in the bible as well) FORNICATION is causing it!

ok after rereading it is   www.yisraylhawkins.com   I can't wait to check it out. and dear ones he is in Abilene TX.

other goodies in the newsletter--- a dubious translation of the word sorceries to mean 'pharmacist, medication, druggist, pharmacy or poisoner'  yes folks Penicillin is causing global warming as it is a sin because it is used to cure STD's (among other silly illnesses).

so here is what I think we should all do
get his email and email him every single time we fornicate in our daily lives--- now let's use a broad definition of fornication to mean ANY and ALL sex or even making out that we do--- in any way or form with anyone or not--- that way he'll get a clear picture of how boring his life is and maybe he will go out and get laid and get a life

also we need to make him aware of how in fact Pirates help fight global warming!

:kisshands: :grouphug:

Uno celebrated by wagging his tail, playing with his favorite stuffed animal, jumping on his owner/trainer, chowing down on some kibble, napping under his fuzzy blanket and just being utterly beautiful and adorable!

Crafts / Yard Trash Crafts and reuse
December 18, 2007, 03:27:53 PM
Yes I am from the south and yes we do things with yard trash that most people would throw away....

Pine cone fire starters:
Note- two methods given- the first is my uncles way of doing thema and an alternate dip method

clean and dry pine cones- use large ones not the tiny ones

tuna (or similar sized) cans, empty, clean, leave the bottom on, use pliers to smush rim edge so the rim is a bit out of the way, labels removed

brick parrafin wax

large can or pot (not to be used again for cooking) with a lid (lid to snuff flames if you get it too hot- be careful- Someone reminded me of the lid thing THANKS!)- in fact it's best to do this in the Fall outside using the BB-Q or fire pit-- can do inside but be careful! Make a sort of double boiler- put the melting can into a pan of water- not over direct heat.

cotton string, candle wick string(can be bought online), or other wick type material

sharp knife, pot holders, a metal funnel or dipper is nice but optional

chip or cut off some way and put it in the pot over low heat and begin the melting- watch it so it doesn't catch fire.

take a few inches of string and wrap securely around the bottom or fat end of each pine cone, stick the string under and between the scales as best you can to make good contact and leave a tail about 3 to 4 inches long-- about 10 inches all together should work more or less depending on cone size.

Place the cone fat end down into the can and drape the tail over the edge.

Carefully pour or ladle hot melted wax into the can filling the can almost to the top. allow to sit until cooled and wax hardened. The bottom of the cone and the wick should be submerged- do not submerge the tail it's what you'll light to start the starter.

Carefully invert can and cone and pop the entire thing out- this is why it's a good idea to crimp the rim out of the way so it doesn't catch things up- also a bit of heat can help them slide out- just don't get them too hot.

To use place a fire starter on your fire bed and light the wick and then begin to add small kindling- the wax melts slowly and provides heat and some flame to start the fire and the cone will burn more slowly as well allowing the kindling to start.

Many of the premade fire starters use saw dust and wax to do the same thing- but pine cones crackle and smell woodsy and it's fun to go out with family and traipse around the woods sometimes!

Good luck--- I've mainly used these camping --- my uncles always made them for deer camp and such- but will probably work in a fire place as well.

Good Luck!

ALTERNATE METHOD:

simply tie string around the pine cones and dip into the wax to make a fairly thick layer of wax all over the cone and allow excess to drip off and set them on waxed paper to dry completely and then pile into a basket!

use colored candle stubs to impart color to wax if you wish and / or add essential oil to the wax to scent your fire starters

PS-- if you buy these dipped kind online they can cost 20 dollars (see Eddie Bauer,e t c) !

Snark and Rant / Math
September 15, 2007, 08:13:25 PM
OK-HELP!!!!!
I'm good at many things- I have talents- math is not one of them

I am stuck- I should probably get this- I will probably slap my forehead when I do get it-
this is basic elementary algebra stuff- (yes I'm a college senior- no laughing out loud)

linear inequality
I'm having trouble at the very start
I'll give you some examples
no exponents but will use / to denote a fraction
also < or > and =to, I don't have a combination key for less/greater than or equal to, so you'll have to picture it

1) 6x-5 < or = to -1/3x -4
2) -8w -5 > or =to 1/3w -6
3) -3/5t +6 < -6t -8
4) 8y +4 < 5/4y +6
5) 6x -5 < or =to -1/3x -4
6) -7x +4 > 8/3x -8

this stuff
now I get the reducing part the (PEMDAS) or whatever
but how do I know which/where to begin

look at #1 because I looked at the answer(I'm using a computer math program) I know that 1st I have to add 1/3w to each side

for #2 how do I decide/know I have to add 8w to each side to begin

for #3 how do I decide/know I have to add 6t to each side

do you get what I'm asking?
completing the problems makes sense to me--- it's getting started that is driving me crazy for some reason!

look at #1 again
6x -5 < or =to -1/3x -4
first add 1/3x to each side(how do I know to add 1/3 instead of going with the opposit of positive 6x which would be -6x)
then combine the like terms
then get rid of the -5 by adding 5
then multiply
to get the answer of x<or =to 3/19
so on that level I get it but  :taz:

Oh I'm loosing my mind

If anyone knows about the Aleks math program and can email me through it -- or try to help here-- I will love you forever!

Thanks

Games and Jokes / My epitaph
September 15, 2007, 04:02:38 PM
I've always found epitaphs interesting...

it is the "final" word after all.

Often I've made them up for myself
they range from sublime- to stuid and silly

we should make up epitaphs

I'll start

I miss me some Pirates!!!!!
with apologies to Baooni Tyler

"Where have all the pirates gone?
and where is all the grog?
Where are the bilge rats
to fight the rising guards?

Isn't there a Captain Morgan upon a rotten mast?
Late at night I toss and turn and dream of what I need

I need a Pirate
I'm holidng out for aPirate till the end of the night
he's gotta be stout
and he's gotta be awake
and you know he's fresh from a fight
I need a Pirate
I'm holding out for a Pirate till the morning light
He's gotta be single
and it's gotta be soon
and he's gotta own his own ship

Somewhere after midnight
in my wildest fantasy
somewhere just beyond my reach
there's a hook reaching back for me

Racing on the waves and rising with the deep
it's gonna take a mega pirate to sweep me off my feet

I need a pirate.....

FYI-- all igor and igorinas, trolls(I'd love to see a Diamond!), vampires(black ribboners welcome), dwarfs(both ladies and gents though it is unladylike to show your lady gender),Watch officers, imps, golems, gnomes, elves, persons of importance, nobility, dragons, etcetera and  ad-nausem are welcome-SEE NOTE ABOUT WIZARDS HOWEVER! (Borogravians may bring photos of the Duchess if within reasonable size- of course movies are an abomination anyway so best to stay home- unless your socks are in the correct place!)
PS( I made all that stuff up- the real newsletter is below)

here is a cut and past from the latest Discworld Monthly

  Discworld Monthly - Extra - July 2007

1. An announcement from The Mob Film Company
2. The End
--------------------------------------------------------------------
1. An announcement from The Mob Film Company

When we were planning the movie of Hogfather we met a lot of
Discworld fans and admired their enthusiasm for costuming.  That led
to us inviting fans to join the extras in some of the scenes of that
movie.

Boy, was that a high speed learning process.  We had not realised
that the history of fan involvement with movies was so chequered.

Since then we have learned more about fandom. We went along to the
Discworld Convention and had a great time. We made certain that fans
got more than half the tickets for the Hogfather premiere. And now,
with the Colour of Magic / Light Fantastic movie in production we
are going to extend the offer of (minor) participation again - and
this time you know who we are.  Many of you have already met us.

On August 1st and 2nd the magic of the movies will be strained to
its utmost to turn part of Guildford into Ankh-Morpork (no jokes,
please).  We need Ankh-Morpork citizens.  We would very much like to
have citizens on both days to a maximum of 50 people.  Ideally we
would like the same faces on both days, because that helps with the
continuity of the filming. We can accommodate some one day only
visitors, but two days is really what we are looking for.

Regrettably, we don't need wizards.  We have nothing against
wizards.  We like wizards. However, since the crowd will be
demonstrating against the wizards of Unseen University, having
wizards taking part in the demonstration as well would be silly.
Apart from that, anyone who could be legitimately part of of an
Ankh-Morpork crowd would be acceptable. We know there are some
wonderful Discworld costumes out there and we can help out somewhat
from the wardrobe department on the day, perhaps in order to enforce
the fact that Discworld as yet does not have trainers or lurex or
much in the way of bright colours. You will find styles from late
Tudor to early Victorian to generic Fantasy, but you won't find much
glitter.  And remember: most citizens in Ankh-Morpork probably think
soap is bad for you.

This is not a way of doing without extras.  We will have lots of
extras. God help us, we have reason to believe that fans would
actually enjoy taking part.

The fine detail:  We could accommodate around 50 of you.  We will pay
you £25 a day towards your expenses, we will feed you, you will get
priority tickets to the premiere, a very limited edition cast and
crew T-shirt and an Ankh-Morpork Access All Areas laminated pass.
We will also give an additional award for the best costume.

To get the ball rolling, e-mail a photo of yourself in costume to
extras@colourofmagicthemovie.com as soon as possible, remembering to
include your name and contact details.  We understand that you will
have to make plans and so we will get back to you as soon as we can.

Further news and information will be posted on

Crafts / beads
March 10, 2007, 07:32:47 PM
Ok
I admit it

my name is anthrobabe and I have a bead fetish.

I routinly spend copious amounts of coin for beads. No one is starving at home and the bills are paid- but I should really get another hobby- I have a veritable treasure trove of a bead collection. And I have plans for them all- yeah right- I'm just a hoarder who am I kidding.

if any of you lucky dogs call Arizona your home port then you might not be aware that much of the USA is required to change their clocks twice a year for this daylight savings thing- overall a good idea- use less energy and all-- but come on- it is a royal pain in the patooty!
and this year it is coming early! In fact at 2am Sunday March the 11th----that's like now folks. what's you opinion on the subject and it is acceptable to post here tomorrow -- especially if you have hilarious glitches to share.
