this will freak some of you out (it did me).
some of you will begin to drool (here is a hankie for you)

at one point I was like--no way, it's two people and they are tweaking the film--but then towards the end they show Big Dog naked--- it is a robot.

again thanks to Phil Platt for the heads up on the robot overlords  ;)

Wow....  especially in the way it handles adverse conditions (ice, being kicked).  Very animalistic.
WWDDD?

That is awesome. I had heard about it before, but I never saw a video.

I wonder how much of a guard dog that thing would be?  Especially if you armed it with something.... ::)
Sometimes, the real journey can only be taken by making a mistake.

my webpage-- alas, Cox deleted it--dead link... oh well ::)

Sibling Zono (anon1mat0)

Amazing. I wonder if rather than use a gas engine a fuel cell or Li-ion batteries can be used and how much autonomy can you get with it. Sounds like the perfect platform for Mars exploration.

"Teeth" that inject a tranquilizer might be suitable for household work.

That would be the F451 model?
Knurrhähne sind eßbar aber empfehlen würde ich das nicht unbedingt.
The aspitriglos is edible though I do not actually recommend it.

It doesn't seem very intelligent to me. It took ages climbing over that pile of bricks with some difficulty when it could have just walked around them.

Also, I think it looks more like a goat than a dog

Or walking through the snow at the side of the road.
The ice-walking/not-crashing-on-its-(metaphorical)-nose was the most impressive part in my view.

See, that's what happens when you let the people make the decisions.

A good computer program would LOOK for the flat, snowless etc. paths, but NOOO we have to force even artificial intelligences to do all the stupid stuff we want, to do tricks for us...I'm amazed that they didn't have it sit up and beg for dinner!

Ah, well, for marketing purposes, it's needed, I guess...

Marketing seems to be the excuse for almost any stupid thing that happens!
This sig area under construction.

Darlica

Impressing. I had heard about it before, seen some video clips on a scientific news show on TV but nothing as extensive as this.

I wonder why the legs is constructed the way they are, they seem backwards to me or they lack at least one joint on each leg...

If it was slightly larger it could be interesting as a sort of mechanical mule carrying heavy equipment where other types of transport are impossible, ravines on Mars, inside caves or other odd places.

It's not silent and seems slow so I guess the army won't have much use for it as a scouting device.
