I was just watching a bit of telly and came upon John Ritter's last sitcom . I grew up with him and I miss him .

What television star/show makes you nostalgic ?

I also miss Red Skelton , Benny Hill , The Little Rascals , Lorne Greene , Jack Benny and Johnny Carson .

ivor

John Ritter was awesome.

I liked the old 'Lost in Space' series.  "Warning Will Robinson!  Warning!"

Opsa

I loved "The Addams Family", "The Munsters", "Gilligan's Island", "The Flying Nun" -just writing the words "The Flying Nun" is cracking me up- what a weird show that was! These shows were fairly stupid, but they had a certain good-naturedness to them as well.

I also loved "Underdog". I can't believe they're making it into a live-action movie. I hope they don't mess it up like they did with my beloved "Bullwinkle".

Sibling Zono (anon1mat0)

I miss the eternal fights of Foghorn Leghorn with the dog. It was the only cartoon with a balanced fight (and you'd never knew who would win at the end of the episode).

The Planeteers. I loved that show as a kid.
The Classic cartoons, Roco's Modern Life, Beetle Juice, Rugrats, Lassie, I Love Lucy, The Bob Newhart Show, Dexter's Lab, Invader Zim, Zaboomafu, Bill Nye the Science Guy, Star Trek and Bablyon Five.
I watched waaaay too much TV as a kid.

There used to be a lot of confections about that i don't see anymore . I loved the sponge toffee square that was wrapped in cellophane for 5 cents and the chocolate/vanilla/ strawberry ribbon candy that sold by the foot .

A nickle also bought a package of cards in a wax wrapper with a big  stick of gum . Batman and Superman were my favourite as well as Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea . I still have a set of the black and white Supes as well as some Batman ... all the rest my dad sent to card heaven . Ahhhhh the sixties...*sigh*

When I was in kindergarten, my favourite show was Emergency! (well, that and the Dukes of Hazzard... I got to stay up an hour past my regular bedtime to watch it). They started showing Emergency on TV again around here a while back, but I think that ended last year.

And when I was a teenager, one of the local TV stations had "time warp television" starting at midnight.  They'd show all sorts of stuff, mostly sci-fi: Lost in Space, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Time Tunnel, etc.

Other than that, I remember the older, crappily-animated cartoons like Hercules and Rocket Robin Hood, but I wasn't as into them.  They sure weren't Voltron.

I want
Sigmund and the Sea Monsters back!
Oh and the original (no uggy remakes) Land of the Lost--- everybody sing now
Marshall, Will and Holly on a routine expedition .....
Oh no Sleestaks!
actually anything by Sid and Marty Croft or Hanna-Barbera
HR Puffinstuff
Snagglepuss
Kapt. kangarro and Mr. Green Jeans
Zoom!
Villa Alegre
etc

I will never get over Mr. Rogers dying- never ever. Mr. Rogers was a bit hokey but dogonit he loved me just the way I am (was).

I like the old Necco wafer candy- can still find it places-- mmmmmm choco Necco

I like some new stuff too--- I vote for Zaboomafu and Bill Nye too!

I love you all just the way you are too!

When I was a kid, I loved Transformers, Voltron, Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles...

That's why I've been long-awaiting the Turtle movie and the Transformers movie... They weren't bad, but the quality of the old series got lost somewhere along the way.

(Michael Bay shouldn't make any more movie remakes...)

Mr. Dressup - I know our southern neighbours haven't really heard of him, but you missed out by letting him come up here.  He's probably the biggest reason Canadians aren't big fans of Mr. Rogers, by comparison.

Laughing at Kanaloa's 'classic' cartoons because I remember most of those being brand new.  Scooby-Doo (original) is my classic.  Complete formulaic fun.

Bluenose

I used to love the Fractured Fairy Tales from The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show, plus the original cartoon series of George of the Jungle, the one where he had two girl friends.  I saw the movie remake and I like it, but I kept asking "where's Wonthala?"...

Me too! Mr. Peabody was a favorite on Rocky and Bullwinkle as well.

Thunder Cats was another favorite. And Salior Moon (never did get to see the end of that show) and the original episodes of Pokemon and Digimon.

Aguj, when I said the classics, I meant Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fud, not Beetle Juice (who I loved as a kid, but did not think was a classic). I always got the impression you were perhaps in you late twenties. Surely you aren't old enough to remember the first episode of Bugs?

Also: can't forget He-Man and GI Joe.

I vaguely remember one episode where COBRA took over all the TV networks and demanded that advertisers pay $4,000,000(!) per 30-second spot.   :o

I wonder if I still have my "personal" GI Joe figure.  I joined the GI Joe fan club, which got me a set of dog tags (stamped with my name and address) and a GI Joe figure of "me".  After I sent in my application, I started to wonder how they'd make an action figure of me without a photo... then my fan club kit came, and there was the figure: dressed in an androgynous flight suit, wearing a full-face helmet, without a bit of skin or identifying characteristics showing.   ;D

Ah!  Misinterpreted that, and you're bang on re: age (actually a bit younger than I might have posted because Scooby was into new versions and reruns when I was a kid).

Used to be a watcher of all the 80's commercialtoons, but I really can't have any loyalty to those since they were so merchandise-oriented.  I still have hundreds of ad jingles from that era permanently etched in my brain - some remarkably obscure ones included.
