No way, we'll get spam.

Decision One: allow search engines to find us  YES     NO
Decision Two: allow guests in chat box            NO     YES

Not two minds. Decision One should be made first, and then select action for Decision two shown in row below.

My choice on decision one would be NO, dont allow search engines to find us. We are an offshoot of FSM therefore people should always find us via FSM and not just by chance.

Therfore my choice on decision two would be YES allow guests as they have probably come from the FSM site. (hmmm I am currently smiting spammers there........... but I dont think they'll bother to read anything and hence wont jump over here).

'sides. if anyone spams, we can easily have some kind fo witty comeback, laugh at them, and continue on. if they REALLY spam, like saying stuff over and over again, we could just stop talking and wait for them to finish. or Darren could ban the IP adress.
Every dead body that is not exterminated becomes one them, it gets up and kills. The poeple it kills get up and kill!

For search engines we can keep the ones that read robots.txt out but if we don't require registration to view content we can't keep them out.   All it takes is one link.  Google found one of my test sites which really PO'd me... :censored:

For spam, here we have the option of using CAPTCHA.

What do you think Sir Frances?

whats CAPTCHA? does it have anything to do with Cap as in Capellini?

It's that thing that displays distorted text and numbers that the user has to enter in order to make sure it's not a bot entering something on the forum.  Some claim it's very effective.  It would unregistered guest to allow them to post in the forums, not for registered users.

Yes good idea. Make 'em type extra. Specially if they are spammers. CAPTCHA>>>>
