it ain't remembering anything. log in forever, remember me, whatever. It won't work here. any Idea why, oh guru of other interently forums?

It's a feature.   

I can understand why they did it this way from a security standpoint.  If someone get's on your machine and steals your cookie they can use that cookie to get into Joomla.  So there's a timeout now.  I can bump it up but the higher the value the more vunerable the security.

I think it's based on the idea that someone can steal your cookies remotely.  It's a relatively new issue and I am waiting for the dust to settle on it.
