ROFL, once she determined that I was OK and the vehicle damage was superficial, the next question was "Did you bring some back"?

But considering I was coming from outside of town with 2/3 of my windshield smashed out, a hindquarters in the back might be a little hard to explain to any curious police.  Plus, I would have had to wait for the officers that I called to put the poor dear deer out of its misery to leave the scene*.  A Firefly is not capable of a clean kill. 

Dad has tagged out (i.e. used a valid hunting permit - we have yearly bag limits for deer) very fresh road kill with minimal damage during hunting season (someone else hit a deer outside of his shop and came for assistance, body damage was minimal), so actually I have eaten roadkill as a kid.

Round here you get loads of hare, rabbits, and pheasants (fortunately nothing much larger). Currently it's loads of dumb, slow moving pigeons mopping up what the grain lorries have dropped.

Had fried grasshoppers in Uganda. They fry them up in a big wok, with some oil and spices, and sell them like packets of nuts in the bars and markets. Got quite a taste for them, actually.


The rules in UK state that if you run over a deer, you are legally obliged to leave it. The next person who comes down the road is legally entitled to pick it up....

I thought dismembership is being excluded from the communist party and getting a signed and sealed certificate that you never were a member.
