Anyone mentioned Christmas Shopping?

I'm allergic to that word. I will once again spend too much money on things noone wants and thus noone will appreciate them and yet they will all smile and nod and I will do the same with the presents I get and don't want........................

I'll just do the shopping on the nearest gas station on Christmas Evening. It's the easiest way and not many people object to a bottle of (fill in anything you can think of) and a box of chocolate...

In many parts of the USofA, a gas station is a sort of "catch-all" market.  Nothing too much, nothing obscure, and in wet [alcohol permitted] states/counties, you can buy booze in various flavors, strengths and such.

Even here in uber-conservative Oklahoma, you can buy beer-- well, it's sort of like beer, in that it smells vaguely like beer, and tastes like beer in which you had to put ice in, and the ice has all melted, now.  I think there's even a hint of alcohol in there too, but not alot. ::)

But, that was what I was alluding to ... :D

Christmas shopping??

Feh. Bah AND Humbug.

Last year, everybody drew names, then everybody called ME to do their shopping because they were SO busy...(anybody remember the rate of growth at TOP last Christmas?? For 9 straight days, we were getting 15-20 people a day, most of them having problems. And most e-mailing be about them.) So, in my 'spare time', I did everybody's shopping, including my own present. Wrapped 'em all, and then most of them didn't even show up to get 'em.

This year, they all get a nice card with a "cookie jar" mix and recipe. Only the little kids get an actual gift. (Books. Ages 2 to 10, every one of them will get books.)

I think most of these folks can manage to add an egg and some butter to a pre-assembled bunch of ingredients and stir...even if they aren't the brightest lights on the tree. (They're my family, after all.)

Sorry for being absent for a day. Got the fever for the first time in several years.

Concerning the LPWB: there were actually no real attempts to solve it yet.

the clues NoName gave above are correct but only helpful, if you already know the word.

So again some clue rehash:

Part of old-style diplomacy (the one Dubya would like).
A big cat in Morocco is one of the most famous examples.
Kerry is connected to one, JFK to something similar.
Given Dubya's understanding of the language (or lack thereof) he could mistake it for something flying that is like something ringing, a snake or a character from The Boondocks.
Steve McQueen encountered one in China.

The first clue suggests Lord Palmerston and !!! LAST POST WORD BINGO WINNER !! diplomacy, and wasn't JFK on a motor torpedo boat or similar? Haven't seen the film but Steve Mcqueen may well have encountered HMS Amethyst or another battleship heading rapidly down the Yangtze in the Sand Pebbles.
Is the Morocco reference the "Agadir Incident" of 1911 with the !!! LAST POST WORD BINGO WINNER !! "Panther"?

The Boondocks and flying clues don't mean much to me I'm afraid.
