I thought about taking a look at the books but reading more about it I abstained. But maybe it's just the fact that I am a cynic frustrated male of 35 and not a romantic frustrated teenage female.

Hey, I like vampires in general.

I did in fact see the movie twilight, not planning on reading the books. It's really not that great, the main characters are pretty dumb and not acted all that well, but the vampire mythology parts aren't so bad. It's like Lost Boys. By no means a really good movie, in fact sometimes somewhat ridiculous, but it's still fun to watch because it's got vampires. XD

OMG, SOOOOO glad I didn't work the night that movie came out. It's bad enough when there's a video game release at the Game Stop in the mall, but Twilight flooded us under.
Also, the fact that my 23 year old shift lead spent three consecutive shifts fan-girling Edward ("Oooh my god, he's sexy! I want to have his babies!" "Uh, that's necrophilia and vampires can't have babies." "Quiet you!") sort of put me off it.
