Well, it's noonish.

So, hopefully it's hot enough to fine-tune an A/C unit.

I don't know what's wrong-- it may need replacement.

But, I must call first--hopefully someone will be available.   It's a referral from a very happy repeat customer.  Best put on my good clothes.

Fixed the A/C.  Was 2 issues:  bad fan motor (common) and negligent "service" by the previous "serviceman".

He had blown out the high-line's shrader valve (exactly like a tire valve) and for whatever reason did not replace it.  It's not a hard task-- you just need a valve-extractor tool-- a very inexpensive item.  And a replacement valve, worth about $0.29.

His "fix" was to put on a brass cap-- but he failed to tighten it properly!  Hand-tight, only!  Idiot.  Brass caps must be wrench-tightened 1/4 turn, minimum.  He was likely used to the cheapo plastic ones.... (I always replace those with brass caps, because the plastic ones leak.  I buy the brass ones by the gross....)

So.  New motor (was Carrier-brand, and oddball speed, so had to use genuine Carrier motor, aprox $100 more than generic one) $170

Vaccum system to remove moisture, then replace freon 4lbs, @$15/lb, $60

Labor.

All told bill was more than $350, but I gave a first-time customer discount, $50 off.  'Sides, she was retired, and not made of money.  $300 was still more than I wanted to charge, but that was what it cost.

On the other hand, I will make that $50 back in more refferals, and when she elects to replace that unit, I imagine she will use my company.... I see it as an investment.

It even got some words right that I doubted it would know at all

Personally I think that movie is overrated
There are much worse vampire movies (and horror comedies) of course but I don't think this one deserves its legendary reputation.
Even the famous ballroom scene has been pioneered by others (Hammer's Kiss of the Vampire is named as the inspiration for that). Many of the gags would be marvelous as solitary sketches but in my opinion can't carry the movie over its full length.
