I still don't get the reason for the differences. In Spanish we have different accents, different terms and the only variations regularly used live in Argentina/Uruguay, but there is an Academy of the Spanish Language that keeps punctuation standard for all countries.

I've always assumed the difference is laziness/ease. It's quite hard to spell British. Featherstone-Haugh pronounced Fanshaw and all that

The reflux usually happens in the early hours of the morning, i.e. at a great distance form the last meal in any case. On the other hand I can't sleep easily on an empty stomach. The last thing I usually eat is a banana as a compromise.

I know why AE iz different from BE. besides the obvious.

Webster, in his infinite wisdom, wanted to create a different, somehow better english language, without actually making a new language. so he just changed the spelling. -our became -or, and a bunch of "s'" were replaced with "z'". He wanted "Is" to become "iz", but they wouldn't let him.

The z's screw me up in a lot of those words - now I know that they are zees instead of zeds I will avoid them.

why we call them "swear" words I'll never know. considering the verb swear is synonymous with promise. like, we swear elected officials in, with a bible, but there's no vulgar language.
