9 years of Latin can hardly avoid revealing some "saucy" details. Most teachers* do prefer more wholesome curiosities though (like the moose without knee joints that can be found in Caesar's Bellum Gallicum**).
The Ars Amatoria was not part of the curriculum
There were also some gaps in the Metamorphoses of Ovid (e.g. the part where he compares the bleeding of a stabbing victim with a broken lead water pipe).

*not all, we had for some time one who would not avoid such subjects.
**many scholars believe that this part was added by some later authors but it is interesting "hunter's latin" nonetheless.

I don't think I'll ever be able to look at the gnome the same again.


I would have loved the opportunity to take Latin. We had Spanish, French and Hmong, and that was it.
