I visited Canada almost 30 years ago (I was a really wee lad then). Family vacation with a motorhome going from Edmonton to Vancouver. Very happy memories.
But I will not return to that continent before Washington has come to its senses again (I don't mean the 1st president returning as a zombie, though it would help).

I've been about 8 hours in Canada in Niagara Falls. We drove from Cleveland where we were and I have to tell that it was the best part of the trip.

When my girlfriend-at-the-time's uncle came to visit from Scotland, we took him across the border to an actual US Denny's.  He wanted to do something typically American... it took about an hour at the border and a $5 permit to get in, and all we did was have lunch and drive back.

Heh, you very plausibly drove through my hometown (ish) around the time I was born, and Edmonton - Van proceeds through a very beautiful part of the country, from my occicanuckocentric perspective.

North o' the 49th is still fine, eh?  I think there's still a couple of years left before they "discover" a terrorist threat in Northern Alberta and invade to liberate the oil sands.
