I see myself and all people as the sum total of their experiences.  Even the most negative experience can be the source of something positive, so I never wish that things were different, partly because that would mean that I or people I love would not exist in their current form.

Plus, I try not to worry about things I can't change.  Until Doc Brown arrives with his DeLorean, I count the past in that category.
