I began that text adventure. Problem is that the location system seems to be a bit faulty. e.g. go west, go east will not necessarily bring you back where you were. An unfortunately the location description appears only the first time you go there, so one has to remember what was there. To get into the house was no trouble but I could not open the door in the living room (brute force did not work, neither did the use of cutting tools . I found the grating in the forest but could not open that either. I guess the jewel egg will be used later. the canyon seemed to be a cul-de-sac too. I think I will restart

Actually if you have gone in one direction, the opposite direction does bring you back. (keep a little sketch). Also, experiment with language. hint "look" is useful. Another hint, if you aint got the right tools, leave til later. And another hint.... there's more in that house than you have found...... from the sound of it
