Alex Garland - phrase may be pushing it, but 'Thai-die' featured in early chapters of The Beach as an imagined headline.

The movie isn't actually that bad. I quite enjoyed it.

I saw the Bourne Redundancy yesterday. (Who's joke is that? Jon Stewart?)

Intellectually exhilarating. [/sarcasm]

(Still, explosions have their own way of being fun.)

The book is amazing.  I've heard there's enough wrong with the movie that I'd consider it complete freakin' blasphemy (mostly Hollywood crap like making the main character a Merkin, and gratituous consummation of what was supposed to be unrequited love).  I somehow doubt they captured the psychological aspects of it, which is the most important part of the book IMHO.

Haven't caught the Bourne movies yet (hmm... actually, maybe the first), but the first two were great as audio books (good way to keep awake on long drives).  The third was ho-hum and tedious, so I imagine the movie was just as bad if not worse.

Maybe I liked the "Beach" movie, because I've seen it before reading the book.

The first Bourne was good, second was ok... Don't know about the third, haven't seen it yet, but want to see it as soon as I get the chance...

Also need to see the fourth Die Hard movie (I loved the old trilogy).

Saw the Simpson Movie a few days ago, laughed all the way through...

Yup, while interviewing Matt Damon no less.

Die Hard was a great action movie, as intellectually stimulating as the previous 3.  ::)

Haven't had the chance to watch the Simpson's movie yet .

Last and now I'm off to watch the Daily Show  :D :D Post

Maybe HP5 today and Simpsons next week.
I have actually never seen the Simpsons on TV (just glimpses), I only own Futurama on DVDs.

I've heard that there's no swearing in the movie...

Where's the fun when Bruce Willis doesn't use the F-word in Die Hard?

From a certain point of view prudent would also make sense. Prudence (i.e. calculating what will be successful but offend no powerful lobby) is responsible for a lot of mediocre movies. A lot of superb movies were considered very bad ideas beforehand.

Yeah, stick it to the Man! Lots of things that were a "bad idea" have turned out to be classics.
