Only because there are other lovely terms like pastie, samosa, chicken pot pie and tourtiere that you can use instead.

However, I can concede one point: if you can't come up with another term besides "meat pie" for what you're eating, you probably shouldn't be eating it.  Put it down and go find some Jamaican patties.
