Well, it's quite usual to drink in parks in Serbia, where I used to live, because it's cheaper than sitting in bars, and not much money handy most of the time... :)

In Germany, we used to drink in parks, where it is possible to grill as well...

Yes, we get out to grill in parks around here.  Drinking isn't legal, but last time we were out every group near us was drinking openly.  Generally if one isn't making trouble, trouble won't come looking for you.  Calgary is a pretty hard-drinking city compared to some areas, so alcohol is fairly acceptable (about similar to pot in Vancouver, I suppose).

Korea, you can drink EVERYWHERE, including street bars (like hotdog stands, only with bar stools and serving soju) and at the top of mountains where they have small snack and drink camps set up.  And sometimes free samples on the trailside from a local producer. ;D

Everywhere is fine with me.

I also can drink everywhere, and almost anytime...

This is also the idea behind what they call "pre-drinking" here... you get your buzz on at home at normal retail store prices, then maybe only have a drink or two at the pub/club/whatever during your debauchery.

People around here usually pre-drink at home, though.

Last where's the beer? Post

Kiyoodle the Gambrinous

I think it's the norm everywhere in the world.

At least in the greater part of the world.

Although i pre-drink a lot in pubs here in the czech republic, but that's because the beer is very cheap (around 0,50€ for 0,5 litres of good beer).

Last yeah, where's the beer? Post

North Americans often have the added advantage of private parks, AKA the 'back yard'.  I'm stuck in an apartment, but we managed to set up a nice pub patio on the balcony this year.  And the BBQ is close to hand.  Good coffee shop substitute, too - especially as there are no really good patios of either type close to our place.  We've been eating most meals out there when the weather is nice - there's even a view of the river if you lean out over the railing a bit. ;)
