I know that decaf has less coffee than the real thing, and the point is not to use any psychoactive substance.

I'm not so sure about that. Not too long ago I had to sing in a latin mass and for some unhappy reason the incensory was on the side of the choir so we had to deal with the bloody fumes. Not particularly conducive to singing (we could feel a level of constriction in the airways), but no psychotropic effect I could discern whatsoever.

The main suspect is incensole (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incensol) whose products of decomposition seem to have the observed effect. There is also an (unproven) hypothesis that two other compounds combine to form a THC derivative or analogue when the stuff gets burned.

I didn't buy, much less made the mix, but considering how formal the priest in that church is I would imagine its as close as whatever the Vatican recommends.
