All of my German was derived from two sources:

- attending multiple Oktoberfests in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada (supposedly home to the largest Oktoberfest outside of Bavaria; the town was named "Berlin" until WWI)
- watching the film "The Great Escape"
- witnessing one of my roommates in college (who, when drunk, would lie on the floor while swearing and shouting insults in every language he knew)
