The number of languages allowed here is quite amazing.

I never saw a ban on any language (but foul) here.

The aspitriglos is edible though I do not actually recommend it.

Griffin NoName

But the use of one, without explicit permission, and without inspiring a complaint, renders them allowed by default.

It's an education problem, we could be citing sumerian or mayan if those languages were better known.

They are all biological genera...   it's related to jokes which include the phrase "wear the fox hat" in the punchline.

Can't remember ever to have heard that expression.

"For f*ck's sake!"?
(abies vulpes merluccius = fir fox hake)
Admittedly, it works a little better if spoken in an accent from the British Isles.

It's somewhat stronger but less blasphemous than the more common "For Christ's Sake!"

The joke:
QuotePrince Charles, yes him, was in Ipswich (west of Brisbane) yesterday for an official opening of some building.

Here they all are, standing around in 23 to 24 degrees and in walks ol Charlie, dressed to the eyeballs in a full royal ceremony outfit, but wearing a hat made out of fox skin.

The local media were all over it like a 10 year old on a snickers bar.

Mayor Paul Pasali was a bit spun out by the hat and everyone was talking in hushed whispers.

During the formal dinner, Mayor Pasali said to Charles.....
"I have to know, why are you wearing a fox hat?"

Charles replied, "Well you see, its Mummies idea"

Mayor Pasali, looking very bewildered, says.... "But why would she say that, its far too hot for a fox hat and with the animal liberation folks, gee, it was a bold suggestion on her part."

Charles nodded and said, "i thought so too, but you know Mummy.  I spoke to her on the phone last night to tell her about the previous day and she seemed so very excited.
Then she asked, "Oh Charles, where are you going tomorrow?"
I replied, "Oh mummy, I'm going to a place called Ipswich"

She replied in best royal voice, "Oh, wear the fox hat"

The first line of the inscription of Entemena of Lagash according to wiki, meaning:

Enlil, king of all the lands, father of all the gods, by his firm command, fixed the border between Ningirsu and Shara.

Yes he was. All the upper gentry are. Of course, they just ignore the law and still hunt I think. Personally I hate foxes but I'd never treat them like that.

Oh, Hebrew got 'abba' from the Sumerians (or was it Akkadian already (a Semitic language))?

I imagine it went from Sumerian to Akkadian and from there to Hebrew.

I suppose it became fashionable for the nobility to hunt foxes as times changed and it was no longer permissible to hunt peasants with dogs for sport. These days, we leave that to the police.
