They look cute, how easy is to put them on and how happy the animals are, are the questions. It well may be that they don't mind, but those pictures don't look particularly wintery to say that they would feel happy about the whole thing.

Makes much more sense with sheep after shearing.

There is a short time period over here know as the 'sheep cold', when more often than not temperatures significantly drop shortly after the standard date for sheep shearing (the saints governing those days are also known as the Ice Saints).
