I'll need it too. This weekend I'll try to earn/acquire the driving licence for forklifts (don't call me Klaus!).
I actually applied for a job some time ago where both an academic background in chemistry and a forklift licence were necessary. If I had been successful there, I'd now be employed at a toxic waste dump in a very remote corner of this country. A subterranean one of the type usually used for terminal disposal of nuclear waste.

If I had any talents in driving, I would not need luck. Last time I drove was on the way home from the driving exam on February 16th 2005. And that (practical) exam I passed barely. The saving grace was a near perfect parking maneuvre (the first I ever managed).

It all depends on the needs, a close friend lives in Paris and public transportation is quite decent, yet if you are playing a gig on late hours there is no metro. Having a car is convenient in such cases and depending on the frequency (and distance) it may be a necessity.

Well, during the few hours the tube does not run the lines are served by night buses. There are few areas in this city cut off during th night.
