At least Germany doesn't make more than 1 worthwhile movie per decade (and even those are usually co-productions).
We export our talents and those that the US believes to be talented

Of course Europe exports its talents to the US, there's better money in Holywood than in Europe, so that isn't really a surprise.

But I still think that the European filmography has very high quality and there are at least five quality movies a year that come from Europe.

One fine example could be the movie "Das Leben der Anderen", or Almodovar's "Volver".

living as I do near the National Media Museum and being a 'friend of film' for its fine cinemas I can say that there are certainly many more than 5 great movies a year coming out of Europe. Unfortunately most people never hear about them.
