What's the political system called where the politicians are elected by the people, but then go and do whatever the hell they like without giving two shakes what the people want?  Or that variant where they tell the people what issues they should get ornery about, according to party stance, so the people only focus on those superficial issues and ignore anything that might actually be a reflection of good governance?

There have been revolutions against democracy too.

In a truly functional democracy minorities have a voice. The cases I know when democracy has been attacked have been coups by the military or a large portion of the population was intentionally out of the system.

I wasn't excluding ours - Zono calls it well.  I've been saying that a Conservative minority government hasn't been that bad, for a while now.

Then I actually stopped and thought about what's been going on.

But you're right - you've got the best government that can money can buy (their way in).
