Cadburry Eggs... Smaller?

For all those, who enjoy Cadburry Eggs (very rare in these parts of the world).

Those bilge-rats!
Actually, with a creme egg, this isn't a bad thing - provided the price drops to match.  Eating a whole one is a bit much.

This one's a bit disgusting if you don't like vomit (trying to eat as many as possible):

In its ongoing quest to ban absolutely everything the government here is encouraging smaller chocolate bars.

Of course there's a danger the brighter consumer might work out they can buy two, in which case it might be necessary to re-introduce the rationing which was such a hit here in the 1940s.

Hmm....   easing restrictions which limit small packs is a good idea, but it shouldn't be mandatory.  People will choose the amount they want to eat, regardless of packaging, but making smaller portions an option is a good move for people like me that tend to FINISH any open packets in the vicinity.

*urp*

The flip side of this is that if sizes are reduced - say to 75% of their current size, they may not be as satisfying and will lead to consumers buying TWO of whatever item, and thereby consuming 150% of the original amount.  ::)

None of this will actually change eating habits, though (in terms of what types of foods are being consumed), which is where the changes actually need to happen.  Proper cooking and nutrition classes, in EVERY YEAR of school could help, but good luck securing the funding these days.  ::)

Which would of course be one of the aims of the big chocolate companies - people eat more chocolate, thus they buy more chocolate, thus they make more money.

Economy at it's best...

Ayuh...  like here, they sell small (200 ml) cans of Coca-cola, which cost MORE than regular 355 ml cans.  Huh?

Plans to shrink the size of chocolate bars, crisp packets and other snacks were unveiled yesterday by the Government's food watchdog in a bid to tackle obesity in Britain.

Smaller crisp packets will mean less air - how will that help?

Sweets (and other commodities, but for some reason I only remember sweets) were still rationed in the 1950s. And I still have my ration book. At last..... a positive benefit to never throwing anything away....

If you read the comments, YOU guys (Brits and Canadians) aren't getting the effects on the Cadburys that we US'ians are. YOUR Cadbury's are made by Cadbury's. OURS are made by Hershey's and ARE smaller. I have 3 Creme Eggs from 2 years ago, still in the fridge.

This year's caramel ones are vanishing rapidly.

MMMMMMMM

Did someone say
Caramel Cadbury ( even if made by Hershey's) Eggs?

Do you have any of the chocolate filled ones?

May I come to your house?

I can not abide those with the yellow (yolk) in them--- URK

2 Caramel only, no chocolate...

Check the 99 cent/dollar stores. I hit the 6 for 99 cent jackpot!! And restrained myself from picking up a box of 24. Dang, that woulda only been four bucks... :-[ :'( I be 'toopid...especially when I try to be virtuous.

I do that too

They throw em in a buggy and I just grab it and push it to the checkout. I'm starting to look like a cadburry egg about the middle too.

ooh, this belongs in the scientific conspiracy thread. I can just picture those obese mad scientists cackling to themselves as they strap the trembling Cadbury Eggs on the shrinking machine tables!

I'll bet they enlarge some of them privately, for themselves!!! The blaggarts!

Kiyoodle the Gambrinous

I bet they shrink the Cadburry hens that lay the Cadburry eggs for that purpose

That industry is quite automated by now. I wouldn't be surprised if all chocolate factories resemble Wonka's (re: automation, not all the crazy stuff) in the near future.
