I'm a fan of animated short films and movies. I'm not picky about genre as long as well executed and has a good story (or a really good excuse for a story at least ;) ).
This is a place for posting about your favourite (and not so loved) animated flicks long or short, discussing them and share your thoughts about them, new or old, computer animated 3D or old style cell animation, animé or Central European style puppet animation alike.
:D
I'll start with my latest favourite: Ratatouille!
The Pixar/Disney production about a little rat who wants to be a chef.
I love it! It has cute rats (I happen to like rats), is set mainly in a restaurant kitchen, has a good story and the animation is simply splendid. It's so well done it will become a standard setter like Monsters Inc. was when it came. The level of detail is amazing whit out stealing attention from the story.
I can heartily recommend it. :kiss2:

This is one of my favourites:

Having New Order's "Elegia" as a soundtrack gives it a head start, but the story is great too.
Mr. Reaper's Really Bad Morning.

Locally produced, nonetheless, and the scene of Calgary's downtown being flattened by a meteorite always brings joy to my heart when I've had too much of the city. ;D
For those who haven't seen it yet, Les Triplettes de Belleville (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0286244/). Highly recommended.
I'm a huge fan of Wallace and Gromit (especially Gromit :D ) and a fan of Nick Park and Aardman animation in general.
Check them out here: http://www.wallaceandgromit.com/

My friends and I figured out that
The Wrong Trousers syncs up really well to one particular Nine Inch Nails CD (The Downward Spiral, maybe?). It makes the penguin much more ominous.
Did somebody say Cheese!
Oh I love cheese!
W&G :YaY:
I also like the machinema (spelling?) things that people do with Halo-- if you've not seen it check out some red vs blue sometime--- some of it is twisted. I guess it doesn't really count as animated- it's just taking something that exists and adding and enhancing it.
Now everyone put on their Techno trousers and let's go!
*cough*
Geezus it's dusty in here...
:sweepgirl:
That's better...
Seeing the Ronal The Barbarian video Swato posted in "what are you listening to?" thread made me remember this little gem.

Lindorm and I saw it together with a friend at a evening of animated short movies in Göteborg (Gothenburg) earlier this November.
If I can dig up links to some of the other movies we saw I'll post them too, some where really good. :)
The danish animation school where The Saga of Biorn originated (as a bachelor project) has a nice homepage with lots of animated movies to watch -student works, bachelor's degree film project and lots of other interesting stuff.

Thank you for that! I loved it so much, I posted the link on my facebook page. :)
(did anyone else notice the strong resemblence between xian "heaven" and viking hell? )
;D Yes, and I'm sure it's very deliberate. :valkyrie:
I particularly like part with the Muzak playing in the background in Xtian heaven... ;D

Oh yesss.... so very boring, it would be a literal hell for a normal, sane person, if it was more than say 10 minutes or so...
This is another gem from the animation film festival Darlica and I visited.
A czech-french co-production about...
....eeerrmmm....
...well, waltz music, sexuality, desires, trams and streetlights.
And a few other things.
Very funny, but perhaps not entirely worksafe.

EDIT: Drats, Zounds and Zut Alors! It's only a short extract of the full animated film. Still, even the extract is worth watching.
EDIT 2: Here's another short trailer:

Interesting animation style there. I tried to find a longer one, but was not successful.
Here's an old favourite from Aardman animation
Why one should always read the small print...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mIvQZm8K-yU (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mIvQZm8K-yU)
I loved that one when I saw it first on a DVD with Aardman shorts.
They also did some really depressive ones (typical Aardman skill but dark and broody).
One dark and broody coming up

Indeed.... beware the fine print.

That's good. "It's not what you think".... :D
Up , by Pixar , this work is my absolute favorite of all time . Everyone must have seen this one , it's pure delight and worth viewing constantly just like I think A Christmas Story should be .
I am also a Wallace and Grommet fan .
Yes, Up is quite delightful.
"My name is Russell and I am a wilderness explorer in tribe 24 ... sweat lodge 12 ....Are you in need of assistance ? "
Of Pixar movies I really like Wall-e (with it's almost Kubrickian touches), and as for fun The Incredibles which I think has a wonderful script.
I'm also a big fan of The Incredibles. :)
Pirates in an Adventure with Scientists.
I need say no more...
